Would you like to know a very simple thing that you can do to improve your health, fight premature aging and lose weight? I added green tea and wu yi tea to my health regime years ago, and now I am going to let you know how and why you can benefit from the numerous health benefits of green tea just like me!
There are many health benefits with green tea and green tea extract. They have been studied and found to help prevent cancer, fight premature aging and improve weight loss efforts. Wu yi, wu long and oolong are also capable of these health benefits.
Tea is full of catechins, which are highly powerful antioxidants. One of these is called EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate), which has been studied extensively and is capable of blocking starch, aids in burning fat and increases metabolism, so green tea is capable of aiding in weight loss.
Do you want radiant skin and better memory? How about improving your chances at preventing cardiovascular disease and cancer? The antioxidants in green tea and wu yi tea fight free radicals and repair the damage, which improves your body’s health at the cellular level. This improves your tissue health and thus your overall health and appearance.
I have always loved iced tea, so making the switch from black tea to green tea or wu yi tea to gain these amazing health benefits was easy. If you enjoy milder tea than green tea, wu yi is the way to go. You will still reap all the health benefits!
If you would like a bit more flavor in your tea, you can squeeze lemon or add fruity herbal teas. I love my iced green or wu yi tea with blueberry herbal tea. Mango or peach are also lovely herbal additions! Do not add calories, though. Make sure that the tea is in fact natural, herbal and zero calories or you will quickly turn something lovely into a sugary mess!
I recently learned of another benefit of green tea that I discovered when my coffee began to disagree with me. I have always loved my coffee in the morning, but it began to make me jittery and anxious. So, I decided to switch to not only iced tea throughout the day, but a hot mug of green tea or wu yi tea flavored with herbal caramel truffle tea!
You may be wondering why tea does not produce the jittery effects that coffee does because of course tea contains caffeine. Well, among all the other healthy components of tea, it also contains L-theanine. L-theanine makes the brain release serotonin, which produces a calming feeling in the body. So, while you get the wake-up you need in the morning, you do not have the anxiety that comes with coffee.
Tea should be organic and 100% pure or it will not be as effective.
Hello Caitlin,
I love the fact that you are a fan of green tea and most of all, you can really appreciate the wide array of healthful benefits that green tea has to offer. Unfortunately, so many people are misinformed and sometimes associate caffeine as being a bad thing, thanks to the jittery effects of drinking too many cups of coffee or energy drinks. One of the key components that you mentioned that helps to distinguish tea from coffee is the amino acid Theanine, which helps to strengthen the immune system and contributes to the overall calming of the body. Along with the many wonderful properties that green tea has to offer, it is also known to help metabolize fat and it helps to improve insulin sensitivity. I see nothing but great things when green tea is consumed moderately, it helps those with severe weight issues, weak immune system and may help prevent diabetes. The single most important thing (I’m glad that you mentioned it), that everyone should be very “aware” of if one is to pursue a path to healthy living is to make sure that their tea is completely Pure and ORGANIC. I do not know of any other tea companies that show a purity test with the lab results posted on their website. I guess the guys at Dragon Pearl Tea are highly confident about the quality and purity of their teas. Yes, I’ve tried their teas and not only can I say that I’m relieved to know that I am not ingesting unknown toxins and pesticides into my body but that it is safe for my loved ones too. After trying out their teas at the local Santa Barbara festival I finally got to try what “real” green tea should taste like.
fan of green tea for 2 yrs. and still going strong…
